ImageAccording to information compiled for last year, the number of unemployed workers has decreased significantly as a result of the crisis. The local government has reacted quickly implementing a number of reforms in the business network and labor market aimed at creating jobs in the short term.

The picture includes the data by economic sector. We can see that the majority of the active population works in the service sector, followed by the construction and industry sectors.

The Region of Murcia is very competitive in terms of cost for the workforce, operation, industrial land, housing, etc.



ImageAccording to the latest data available from the National Institute of Statistics on salaries and wages, the Region of Murcia has one of the most competitive salaries in Spain and even in the European Union. The average monthly salary is €1,575.96 compared to the Spanish average of €1823,62/month.

If we itemize employee costs by area of production (enlarge image on the left), we see that the industrial sector has the highest costs. Nevertheless, costs in this sector still fall far below the Spanish national average.

 

 

ImageAs regards an itemized list of employee costs according to educational levels, we see that there is a significant difference between employees with basic studies and those with university-level studies.

The Region of Murcia also enjoys one of the highest levels of employee satisfaction and quality in the workplace in Spain, with better results than the Spanish average, as recently presented in the Murcia is among the top ten cities for living, working and doing business.
